Common Sense USA

I will try to point out where we can do things better and things that just seem foolish. I lean to the right but, I am not foolish enough to believe that either side is always right. Let's try to find the answers.

Company Fires All Employees Who Smoke

Is this Still a FREE country ?

Not if you work for Weyco,INC!

How dare these Corporate idiots try to mandate what people do
off company premises and off the clock. If they want this kind of employee
ownership, perhaps they should check, LINCOLN freed the slaves in the 1863.

HOW DARE THEY!

Company Fires All Employees Who Smoke

Michigan Firm Won't Allow Smoking, Even On Employee's Own Time

UPDATED: 8:20 AM EST January 25,
2005

Four employees of a health care company have been fired for refusing to take
a test to determine whether they smoke cigarettes.

THE SANDS OF
CHRISTMAS

By Michael Marks

I had no Christmas spirit when I
breathed a weary sigh,

and looked across the table
where the bills were piled too high.

The laundry wasn't finished and
the car I had to fix,

My stocks were down another
point, the Chargers lost by six.

And so with only minutes till my
son got home from school

I gave up on the drudgery and
grabbed a wooden stool.

The burdens that I carried were
about all I could take,

and so I flipped the TV on to
catch a little break.

I came upon a desert scene in
shades of tan and rust,

No snowflakes hung upon the
wind, just clouds of swirling dust.

And where the reindeer should
have stood before a laden sleigh,

eight Humvees ran a column right
behind an M1A.

A group of boys walked past the
tank, not one was past his teens,

Their eyes were hard as polished
flint, their faces drawn and lean.

They walked the street in armor
with their rifles shouldered tight,

their dearest wish for
Christmas, just to have a silent night.

Other soldiers gathered,
hunkered down against the wind,

To share a scrap of mail and
dreams of going home again.

There wasn't much at all to put
their lonely hearts at ease,

They had no Christmas turkey,
just a pack of MREs.

They didn't have a garland or a
stocking I could see,

They didn't need an
ornament--they lacked a Christmas tree.

They didn't have a present even
though it was tradition,

the only boxes I could see were
labeled "ammunition."

I felt a little tug and found my
son now by my side,

He asked me what it was I
feared, and why it was I cried.

I swept him up into my arms and
held him oh so near

and kissed him on the forehead
as I whispered in his ear.

There's nothing wrong my little
son, for safe we sleep tonight,

our heroes stand on foreign land
to give us all the right,

to worry on the things in life
that mean nothing at all,

instead of wondering if we will
be the next to fall.

He looked at me as children do
and said it's always right,

to thank the ones who help us
and perhaps that we should write.

And so we pushed aside the bills
and sat to draft a note,

to thank the many far from home,
and this is what we wrote:

God bless you all and keep you
safe, and speed your way back home.

Remember that we love you so,
and that you're not alone.

The gift you give you share with
all, a present every day,

You give the gift of liberty and
that we can't repay.

The NEW School Prayer

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and
The Lord's Prayer
are not
allowed in most public schools anymore
Because the word "God" is
mentioned.... a kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer.
I liked
it....

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this
great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And
anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom
scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a
serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at
all.
In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the
state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues
and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good
Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior
King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that
such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and
totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must
reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a
mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please
take!
Amen

I DIDN'T WRITE THIS IF ANYONE KNOWS WHO DID LET ME KNOW... IT JUST SEEEMED
APPROPRIATE

Major Media Attacks Rice with Racism!

Did anyone see the "Political" Cartoons run by the MAJOR Newspapers? The way they
attacked Condi Rice was disgusting. I thought we had laws against racism. They
attack her because she is successful or because she is Republican. Where is the
NAACP or even the ACLU. Portraing her with racial stereotypes and downplaying
her great achievments really turns my stomach. She is the first Black Women
ever to hold this position and that should be Celebrated, regardless of your
Political Affiliation.

C'mon people, have some Common Sense!

Ads to Back Schwarzenegger for President...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Californians will soon see advertisements urging
them to help give Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and other foreign-born citizens the
chance to run for president.

The cable television ads, set to being running Monday, are from a Silicon
Valley-based group that wants to amend the U.S. Constitution, which limits the
presidency to people born in the United States. Schwarzenegger was born in
Austria but became a U.S. citizen in 1983.

"You cannot choose the land of your birth. You can choose the land you love,"
Lissa Morgenthaler-Jones says in the ads.

She is a San Francisco Bay area mutual fund manager and major Schwarzenegger
campaign donor who is helping pay for the ads and created a companion Web
site

They gotta be kidding!!!

A foreign born President?

An amendment to the Constitution to allow Foreign Born
Presidents.

This is an outrage. I am a Republican and so is Arnold but, this
should never be allowed. Only USA Born Presidents, WHY? Common Sense tells us.
You may love being here and feel that the US is your new home but there is a
difference in the level of feeling. Nothing against Arnold, It would just be
wrong.

I wish the Dems had Nixon's Values

Election Legal Problems???

The Constitution is very clear how it works,
the 2000 Election was not decided by the court, just verified,
The Constitution States that in the event of a question. The "STATE LEGISLATURE" has
the final decision.

The Dems contested this in 2000 and the Supreme Court ruled
that the Constitution is the final Law.

There is no need for the army of lawyers.
Either way.

If you remember the Kennedy/Nixon Election,
Nixon said that even though the Election was close enough to Contest, it would
be bad for the country. Isn't it sad that we now have to look back and wish the
Political Parties had the Moral Decency to have Nixons Values.
